Review:
I went to see this film with my wife and upon entering the theater, immediately became uncomfortable. There was only one other person in the show, and he's obviously feeling a little out of place as well (although he relieved to see it seemed to run). I've been waiting for a teen soap opera, but what was delivered, the film differently. This film is more like a modern time women or a little girl teen version of Dead Poets Society. In other words, it is something that I have not seen any signs of decades .... an intelligent drama aimed at teenage girls. My first reaction to this film was similar to how I felt after having the baby. I know this is a weird comparison, but both were thoughtful, intelligent films at a target group that is directed, usually fueled cinematic garbage. The elements of good filmmaking are on full display here. Acting strong, safe-solving director, screenplay terrific .... everything that makes a great movie. If you are a teenage girl or have in your life, this is absolutely a must-see movie. If you do not, you will still have a good time.
